Curraghmore connection to Blue Diamond hopeful

Loving Gaby's impressive debut win in the Gr.3 Chairman's Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on the weekend has set her up for a tilt at the Gr.1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) on February 23.

The win has brought back memories for Curraghmore's Gordon Cunningham who sold the dam of Loving Gaby, Maastricht, as a yearling.

"It was interesting listening to Ciaron Maher the other day describing Loving Gaby as a big raw filly with a huge stride because he could have been describing her mother Maastricht," Cunningham said.

Maher since has rated Loving Gaby as the best filly in his stable after the win.

Maastricht was sold by Curraghmore as a yearling at the 2013 New Zealand Bloodstock yearling sale for $220,000 and she went on to at Group Two level and looks to also have talent in the breeding arena producing Loving Gaby as her first foal.

This family is one that Curraghmore knows well with several members of the page being born, raised or sold by the farm.  Maastricht is a half-sister to Weaponry, sold as a yearling in 2017, who is stakes placed this season, and also a half-sister to Invermoray who was sold as a broodmare through Curraghmore's 2018 May Sale draft.
