Williams to partner Tulip at Moonee Valley

Craig Williams will partner New Zealand Bloodstock graduate Tulip (Pierro) in Saturday’s Johnny Walker Plate at Moonee Valley.

The 1200m event for three-year-old fillies is dripping with class and Williams will be aboard the Golden Slipper placegetter who was purchased for $400,000 from the 2016 draft of Curraghmore Stud.

"I think she's quite special," Williams said of Tulip, who was scratched from last week's Gr.3 Quezette Stakes to be saved for this weekend's race.

"I think she's right up there with the best three-year-old fillies we have, she was definitely up there with the best two-year-old fillies we had.

"I did trial her before I went overseas and I was really happy with the feel that she gave me and she's won at the Valley too."

Tulip, who has not started since her fifth placing in the Gr.1 ATC Sires', is the current favourite ahead of Limestone (Helmet). -Racing.com
