Jimmy Lincoln produced a tidy performance to win at the first time of asking in the Prodrive Golf Wellington Maiden at Hastings on Saturday, and in doing so provided a timely pedigree update for his weanling brother.

From an inside alley, the colt made the running and he showed admirable fighting qualities to hold his rivals at bay in the straight.

"He jumped and ran and kept out of trouble," said trainer Lisa Latta, who paid $150,000 to secure the son of Jimmy Choux out of Curraghmore's 2014 NZB Select Sale draft, on behalf of John Street's Lincoln Farms Bloodstock.

The Awapuni horsewoman hinted that Jimmy Lincoln may now go for a break.

"We got a nice track today, but we're heading into the wetter tracks and he's a bit better than that," she said

Bred by Nearco Stud, Jimmy Lincoln is the second foal out of the stakes performed Reset mare Musigny.

Curraghmore and Nearco will offer a full brother to Jimmy Lincoln at the NZB National Weanling Sale at Karaka on May 8.

The partnership will also offer Lot 99, another Jimmy Choux colt and the full brother to Manolo Blahniq, winner of the Gr.3 Eclipse Stakes.

"Both colts are good types and are as appealing as their full brothers were at the same stage. I rate them both," said Curraghmore principal Gordon Cunningham.

Leading vendor at National Weanling Sale for 11 consecutive years, another quality draft will depart from Curraghmore to Karaka on Thursday.

"Again, we're confident that this draft offers as much potential as those we've previously offered. The win today is just a timely reminder of the genuine quality we offer," said Cunningham.
