Tribal Wisdom earns well deserved black-type

Tribal Wisdom returns to scale

Despite not getting the smoothest trip at his first right-handed start, Tribal Wisdom put on a brave and hearty display yesterday when taking out the $150,000 Listed Pluim Group Gosford Guineas over 1200m in the hands of Christian Reith.

Usually displaying lightening gate speed, on this occasion, he didn't get the best jump which consequently set him back in the field. That didn't matter much though, as in the end, at the 200m, this smart galloper showcased his impressive turn of foot and was soon hot on the heels of race favourite 'I Thought So', and with gritty determination, stamped his authority by getting over him on the line.

Still green and with plenty to learn, this was his second win from three starts. His first win on debut from a bold front running position followed by this impressive win from behind, both illustrate his fantastic ability over 1200m.

Mike Moroney sees plenty more where that came from and looks forward to what this promising gelding will produce over further ground.

Moroney stable representative Nerissa Copp added, "Tribal Wisdom will improve when he gets out to a longer distance. He's not necessarily a 1200m horse, we think he'll be better over 1400m. He's only just come up from Melbourne. He finished really strongly today and he's here for the rest of the carnival now"

Bred by Consolidated Bloodstock, and a Curraghmore graduate – the grey son of Makfi is the first foal out of the talented Redoute's Choice mare Platinum Passion.

Platinum Passion was selected by Paul Moroney Bloodstock and trained by Mike Moroney and is the granddaughter of the champion Horlicks who is the dam of Moroney's Melbourne Cup hero Brew.
Tribal Wisdom carries the colours of Rupert Legh and is owned by an exceptional group of owners who are all fantastic supporters of the stable.

Congratulations to winning connections R & C Legh Racing Pty Ltd, B & C Thoroughbreds Pty Ltd, Werrett Bloodstock Pty Ltd, Mr C H Madden, Mrs J G Madden, Pulitano Thoroughbreds Pty Ltd, Mr R E Vernall. - Ballymore Stables
