Tulip set to bloom in Blue Diamond Preview

Tulip certainly fits the recent profile of recent winners of the Blue Diamond Preview for fillies but co-trainer Tom Dabernig wants the filly to capitalise on her inside draw in Thursday's two-year-old feature.

Last start winners have claimed the last four editions of the fillies' Blue Diamond Preview with all of the quartet being favoured runners at prices between $1.90 and $3.20.

Tulip is a $2.70 favourite on Sportsbet's market on the Group III contest after her strong debut win at Moonee Valley on New Year's Eve.

The daughter of Pierro gave her rivals a start before scoring a comfortable victory but Dabernig, who trains Tulip in partnership with David and Ben Hayes, doesn't want the youngster to see all the runners this tim.

"She's drawn to get a good run. I just hope she doesn't get too far back," Dabernig said during the weekly Lindsay Park update.

"She's a really smart filly and When she won at Moonee Valley, she came from last but she's a really smart filly on track for the Blue Diamond."

Tulip is the $10 favourite for the Group I Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 25 while her stablemate Wait For No One will be out to shorten his $34 quote for Victoria's richest two-year-old race when he steps out in the colts and geldings' Preview. - Breednet.com.au
