Ruettiger delivered Curraghmore's tenth black-type win of the season in Saturday's Listed All Victorian Sprint Series Final (1200m) at Flemington.
Race favourite Voodoo Lad shot to the front with a furlong to run, but Ruettiger stuck to his guns and wore down his rival, powering along the inside to win the 1200 metre sprint by a short neck under jockey Craig Williams.
"I thought he did a great job today," said Williams.
"The second horse is a very talented horse and we had to fight and Ruettiger was a bit too strong today."
Lee Freedman, who trains the gelding with his brother Anthony said he would look at more straight-race options at Flemington for Ruettiger.
"This horse has been racing in really good heart and as a four-year-old now we've discovered he's quite a good straight horse."
Bred by Adrian Clark, Ruettiger is the first Australian stakes winner by Duporth and he is the second foal out of the Zabeel mare Be Inspired, a sibling to Group Three winners Rainbow Styling and Zingaling.
Ruettiger was sold to Lyndhurst Farm out of Curraghmore's 2012 NZB National Weanling, Broodmare and Mixed Bloodstock Sale draft for $105,000. He was later resold as a two-year-old fetching $150,000 at the NZB Ready To Run Sale of 2YOs.
Ruettiger joins Heroic Valour, Fanatic, First Seal, Manolo Blahniq, Indarra, Thunder Down Under, Cletic Tiger and Yesterday's Songs as a stakes winning Curraghmore graduate for the 2015-16 racing season, view the Graduates page of our website for more info.
