Fitting Gr 1 For Veloce Bella
Top-quality mare Veloce Bella added a richly-deserved Gr 1 title to her list of credits with a commanding victory in the Darci Brahma International Stakes.
Previously placed in the event and at the top level in the NZ Oaks and NZ Breeders' Stakes, she has met and matched the best throughout her career.
Due to her natural back-running style, Veloce Bella has often been the victim of bad luck in feature events but her class has undeniable.
She enjoyed a stellar three-year-old season with Gr 2 successes in the Eight Carat and Sir Tristram Fillies' Classic and beat her male counterparts in the Avondale Guineas.
Veloce Bella, who bears the Curraghmore brand, also added the Gr 2 Travis Stakes to her record last term for Matamata trainer Mark Brosnan.
He has expertly-handled the Volksraad mare and nursed her back to Gr 1 honours after a tendon injury in 2007 had sidelined her for more than a year.
Veloce Bella is raced by the Case Lot Syndicate, which includes breeders and long-time stud friends Murray and Margaret Hardy.
The six-year-old has fashioned the outstanding record of 10 wins and 10 placings from her 39 starts starts for stake earnings in excess of $600,000.
4YO adding performance to pedigree
Late-bloomer Quinta De Lago has benefitted from a patient approach and the well-bred four-year-old is now starting to deliver results.
The son of Encosta De Lago has found his best form this preparation with two placings and consectutive wins at Rotorua and Te Awamutu.
Both have been decisive victories for the son of the Thunder Gulch mare Slip Sliding, a half-sister to dual Gr 1 winner and international sire Dehere.
A $725,000 yearling from Curraghmore's 2007 draft, his dam is also a half-sister to the mother of stud graduate and Gr 2 AAMI Vase winner Hanks.
He is trained by Peter Moody who purchased Quinta De Lago's brother from this year's Premier Sale draft at Karaka for $150,000.
Festival Sale Review
Selling at New Zealand Bloodstock's 84th National Yearling Sales concluded at Karaka today, with the final day of the two-day Festival session rounding off an extremely successful Sales Series.
Three times today the Festival Sale's previous record price was surpassed, with the new record set by Lot 1397 bought for $110,000 by New Zealand Bloodstock as agent for Cambridge clients. The Elusive City colt offered by Haunui Farm is from the Sir Tristram mare Wishing Belle. Prior to this week, the previous Festival record was $80,000 in 2008.
A few lots later another lot came close, when the King's Chapel colt at Lot 1418 was knocked down for $100,000 to Auckland bloodstock agent, Robt Dawe. Offered by Mark & Sarah Devcich's Henley Park in Cambridge, the colt was from the winning Volksraad mare, Alleyrun.
The third six-figure yearling came at Lot 1520, when another Elusive City colt was knocked down for $100,000, this time to Queensland-based International Bloodstock Consultants. With just three yearlings in the Sale, this gave Kirkwall Thoroughbreds the honour of leading vendor by average on $39,667.
Following the trend of the entire week, the final Festival Sale figures sailed past last year's results, with the session turnover of $4,915,600 up 10% with six fewer lots in the Sale.
The session average was up 25% on last year's $11,997, with the session median matching last year's $10,000. With the final few hours showing the first signs of a lull in the market, the clearance rate settled at 71% for the two days' trade.
The predominantly local buying bench was headed by the O'Sullivans' Wexford Stables, with trainer Andrew Scott prominent throughout the past two days to end up with ten Festival yearlings for $322,500. Wexford's top price of the session was $60,000 paid for the Strada colt at Lot 1299. This brings Wexford's tally of purchases to 11 for the week.
Also active was Hong Kong based Justin Bahen, with six Festival yearlings adding to his total for the week of 15 bought for $986,500.
With two six-figure yearlings it was no surprise to see Haunui Stud sire, Elusive City, top the tables with 12 of 18 entries sold for an average of $43,583. He was followed by Paxton Park's Shinko King with $35,786.
Elusive City's results also contributed to Haunui Farm taking top honours as the leading Festival Sale vendor by aggregate, selling 16 for $496,000.
Right behind them was Hallmark Stud with a 100% clearance rate, selling their seven entries for $195,000.

Perfectly Ready Colt Tops
A half-brother to a leading South Island performer was Curraghmore's top Festival Sale lot as the curtain fell on the NZ Bloodstock National Yearling Sale series yesterday.
The younger sibling to multiple winner and Gr 3 placegetter Coup Callum was purchased by Wanganui interests for $22,000.
By Perfectly Ready, he is out of the stakes-performed mare Russian Dancer who has done a fone job at stud with five winners from six foals to race.
Curraghmore's only other Festival entry was a Spartacus colt out of Dulcie's Dagger from the family of Gr 1 Levin Classic winner Ambitious Owner made $13,000 to Singapore.

PREMIER REVIEW
The staggering results of Day One at New Zealand Bloodstock's Premier Sale flowed into Day Two today at Karaka, with a $2 million colt by New Zealand's own champion sire Zabeel eclipsing yesterday's millionaire lot.
The third-equal highest price ever to go through the Karaka sale ring, Lot 373 from the Danehill mare Diamond Like was knocked down to the bid of Sydney-based bloodstock agent James Bester.
Bester was glowing in his praise for the colt from Cambridge Stud.
"What attracted me to this colt was his quality. Physically he's the best yearling I have ever seen in the southern hemisphere.
"Chiefly I buy on conformation and this colt was exceptional, but to also present with the best page in the sale is extraordinary. Zabeel on Danehill is outstanding, and a very fast mare more to the point to counter Zabeel's staying influence.
"It was easy to spend that sort of money when you know the background the horse has had, and being from Cambridge Stud, from that family, I had every confidence."
Bester purchased the colt for a small group of Australian owners who race horses with a number of trainers and are yet to decide the lucky stable that this colt will join.
One of Lot 373's underbidders, David Ellis, was more successful later on in the sale when he secured Lot 431 for the second highest price of the day at $1,300,000.
The Redoute's Choice three-quarter brother to Darci Brahma offered by Pencarrow Stud will form part of a syndicate of four colts purchased by Ellis over the past two days.
Ellis was equally enamoured with both of today's top colts.
"They were both outstanding colts prepared by the best studs in the southern hemisphere and it was impossible for me to split them. But I'm thrilled to have got this one. He has the same qualities as Darci Brahma and has been a beautiful individual since the day he was born.
"It has been extremely hard work competing with the Aussies over the last couple of days. The sale has been incredibly strong but we're delighted with our selection."
The strength of the Karaka sale was evidenced by another set of remarkable figures from today's trade, with the final average the second highest in history at $183,119, up 26% on last year's $145,710.
Turnover was up a massive $10 million for fewer horses sold, representing a 22.5% increase from $53,330,000 to $63,373,500.
The sale median ended up at $135,000, up 35% on last year's $100,000, and the clearance rate climbed steadily to 79%, ahead of last year's 77%.
With a buying bench stacked full of international buyers, it was kiwis Graeme Rogerson and David Ellis who took top honours.
Rogerson Bloodstock was back to the prominence seen in years past, ending the day as the leading Premier Sale buyer by almost $1 million with 19 yearlings bought for $4,350,000. Rogerson's top price was $500,000, paid for the Encosta de Lago colt from Liberty Walk bought early in the sale at Lot 15.
The second top buyer was New Zealand's David Ellis of Te Akau Racing, who purchased 14 yearlings for $3,375,000 at an average of $241,071.
Bolting up the buyers list today was Melbourne trainer Danny O'Brien who bought 12 yearlings for $2,265,000 for an average of $188,750. His top price came at Lot 288, a Pins colt from Group 1 winning Zabeel mare, Bazelle, for $380,000.
Peter Moody bought another three today to bring his tally to 15 for $2,250,000 for 15 horses.
Accompanying them on the list of buyers who spent in excess of $1 million on their Karaka buys were Australian buyers Patinack Farm, Gai Waterhouse, James Bester, DGR Thoroughbreds, Hawkes Racing, Mark Kavanagh, Bart Cummings, plus the Hong Kong Jockey Club, International Bloodstock Consultants and Jayven See.
The leading vendor by aggregate for the 28th year in a row was Sir Patrick Hogan's Cambridge Stud with 40 yearlings sold for just under $10 million at an average of $248,588.
Next was Gordon Cunningham's Curraghmore Stud, with 28 horses sold for $6,655,000.
The leading vendor by average was Tom & Shelley Murtagh's Esker Lodge, responsible for yesterday's million dollar Lot 102. The stud sold eight yearlings for $2.41m at an average of $301,250.
Brighthill Farm's Group 1 winning son of More Than Ready, Perfectly Ready edged in to be the leading first season sire with four sold for an average of $150,000. Topping his offering was Lot 160, a colt from Rich Hill Stud who sold for $290,000 to NZB as agent.
New Zealand Bloodstock Co-Managing Director Petrea Vela says the Premier session has been a huge success.
"We couldn't be happier with the results of the past two days. There are a lot of delighted vendors at Karaka tonight who have had their expectations completely surpassed. The strength of the buying bench has been thoroughly overwhelming and has demonstrated to us the hot demand there is for the product we offer here.
"There's still five days to go but we are thrilled with the outcome of the Premier Sale and are very grateful to both buyers and sellers for their support to post such successful results for the industry."
Selling continues at Karaka tomorrow with the first lot of the 2010 Select Sale at 11am. Selling can be viewed live online at www.nzb.co.nz.

SELECT REVIEW
The stellar week of selling at Karaka continued right to the end of New Zealand Bloodstock's three-day Select Sale today, with a host of new highlights recorded for this session.
The appeal of Karaka's burgeoning Select Sale - the source of nine individual Group 1 winners last year - was evident as final figures sailed past last year's results. In the final analysis, 438 yearlings were sold for $22,927,500, a massive 35% increase in turnover compared with $17,039,000 for 456 sold last year.
This brings the combined aggregate at this point in the Sales Series to $88,301,000, the second highest aggregate ever recorded at Karaka, with two days of selling still to go.
The most impressive increase was the final sale average, up 40% from $37,366 to $52,346. As with turnover, this is also in excess of the 2009 and 2007 result.
The sale median held steady today at $40,000, up 33% on $30,000 last year.
The final clearance rate settled at 78%, a healthy increase on last year's 74%. To add to that, the Premier Sale clearance rate has edged up to 80% since selling finished on Tuesday evening.
Demonstrating the increased strength at the top of the market, seven yearlings sold for $200,000 or more, compared with just one last year, and 21 yearlings sold for $150,000 or more compared with just five last year (and 26 at 2008's record sale).
The top price of the Select Sale came early today when $250,000 was paid for Lot 947, the Elusive City colt from Generous mare, Bella Mimosa bought by O'Brien Thoroughbreds. Offered by Haunui Farm it is one of 15 yearlings bought by Melbourne trainer, Danny O'Brien, over the last five days at Karaka.
The leading buyer of the Select Sale is prominent New Zealand buyer, David Ellis, with 14 yearlings bought for $792,500. Ellis's total purchases for the week are 28 lots for $4,167,500
With the top price on Day Two, leading the sires averages was Elusive Quality with four sold for an average of $122,500.
Next on the list was Waikato Stud sire, O'Reilly, with 30 of his 37 entries sold for an average of $87,100. O'Reilly's top price was also $200,000, paid for the colt at Lot 1025 from Westbury Stud by New Zealand Bloodstock as agent.
The leading Select Sale vendor by average is Mark & Denny Baker's Hallmark Stud, with nine of their ten entries sold for an average of $110,667. Hallmark's top price was $170,000 paid for the Pentire colt at Lot 692.
NZB Co-Managing Director Petrea Vela said the impetus from Karaka's spectacular Premier session has flowed through to the past three days.
"When we were selecting for the sale this year we saw a host of yearlings that in years past might have been in Premier now featuring in the Select session so we knew the strength was there. But it has been great to see the buyers still hard at battle for the lots they want.
"The Select Sale is growing year by year in its own right and the results are speaking for themselves. More and more buyers are staying on for this session and the results are reflecting this growing competition.
"We're very happy to see the support the sale has received this week and wish buyers the very best of luck with their purchases. We hope that some of the momentum from this incredible week can flow into our Festival session on Sunday and Monday."

Velocitea does breeders proud
Christchurch mother and daughter Raewyn Ramage and Shelley Frost celebrated another royal result when Velocitea won Saturday's Gr 3 Hyderabad Stakes.
Their Braided River Thoroughbreds operation boards several mares at Curraghmore Stud, including the Caulfield winner's dam Cat Shmea.
She foaled a valuable filly last year to champion stallion Zabeel and they have also retained Velocitea's yearling sister.
The South Island breeders raced Velocitea, who won twice and was runner-up in the Listed Champagne Stakes, before her sale to Australian interests.
The Volksraad four-year-old claimed the Gr 3 How Now Stakes last spring for Brian Mayfield-Smith and on his retirement she was transferred to Mick Price's stable.
Velocitea was making her first appearance from her new quarters on Saturday and will now head inter-state in search of a Gr 1 prize.
Price has targetted next month's Robert Sangster Stakes - a race he won last year with Bel Mer - at Morphetville.
He said Velocitea's pet trip was 1200 metres and there was plenty of improvement in her leading up to the March 8 feature.
Fusaichi Pegasus Filly Popular
A daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus will be heading to Australia after topping Curraghmore's day during the final session of the Select Sale at Karaka.
Bought by Melbourne trainer Brian Jenkins for $85,000, she is out of a Flying Spur mare from the Gr 1 family of Bonanova (Emirates Stakes).
Matamata buyer Paul Moroney went to $60,000 for a Keeper colt out of the Gr 3 performed Honourable who is a half-sister to Gr 1 Sydney Cup winner Linesman.
Curraghmore's Lonhro colt out of a Danehill mare from the family of dual Gr 1 winner and top sire Danehill Dancer was bought by Hong Kong interests for $58,000.
The stud sold 11 Select yearlings for $665,000 with their sale-topper the Darci Brahma colt out of There's No Doubt.
She was purchased for $160,000 by Dave O'Sullivan on behalf of Sir Patrick Hogan and Sir Michael Fay.
Royal Owners For Filly
A filly by Darci Brahma will race for illustrious owners after she was purchased out of Curraghmore's draft on the second day of the Select Sale for $160,000.
"She is a lovely type and will be racing in the colours of Sir Patrick Hogan and Sir Michael Fay," Gordon Cunnignham said.
The daughter of the former sale-topper and subsequent five-time Gr 1 winner is a half-sister to Gr 3 performer Dutch Striker and exciting three-year-old No Fear.
From the family of Curraghmore's Gr 1 graduate Iflooxcouldkill (Ellerslie Sires' Produce Stakes), she was signed for by former champion trainer Dave O'Sullivan.
A Perfectly Ready colt out of a half-sister to dual Gr 1 winner Al Mansour (Queensland Classic, QTC Sires' Produce Stakes) will also be going to prominent home after he realised $100,000.
"He was bought by David Archer and will be carrying the colours of Mufhasa," Cunningham said.
A Perfectly Ready filly also proved popular and was sold to international operators Vinery Stud for $80,000.
She is out of the winning Fiesta Star mare Banshee from the same family as the Darci Brahma filly.
"We've had another great day and delighted with our results - it's all been very positive," Cunningham said.
Coyle Snaps Up Excites Colt
An Australian-bred colt with a strong black-type pedigree is headed back across the Tasman after being knocked down to Sydney trainer Jason Coyle at Karaka today.
The son of Excites was the first of Curraghmore's two lots on the opening day of the Select Sale and was sold for $50,000.
A half-brother to Listed winner and Gr 1 Brisbane Cup runner-up Shamrock Shore, he is out of the Canny Lad mare Loaheeb.
She is a daughter of Gr 1 Australian Oaks winner Gamine from the family of champion South African mare and triple Gr 1 winner Sun Classique.
The stud's other offering on day one was an O'Reilly filly who made $21,000. She is out of the Sir Tristram mare Miss Tee and a half-sister to stakes performer Little Tee.
The Gr 1 Captain Cook Stakes winner and multiple Gr 2 and 3 winner Mickey's Town also features in her pedigree.
Cracking Sale for Curraghmore
A pair of Encosta De Lago youngsters headed an outstanding day at Karaka for Curraghmore who again celebrated an outstanding Premier Sale at Karaka.
They each made $500,000 to lift the stud to the second top vendor on aggregate with 28 horses sold for $6,655,000.
Leading Australian trainer John Hawkes struck early when he secured Curraghmore's half-sister by Encosta to Listed Widden Stakes winner Superfly.
Her sale was quickly followed by the brother to Gr 2 Feehan Stakes winner Delzao who was purchased by the Hong Kong-based Apollo Ng.
Other highlights for Curraghmore included the $325,000 sale of the Flying Spur colt out of the Gr 2 Rich Hill Mile winner Belle Femme.
She went to New South Wales interests while top Melbourne conditioner Mick Price landed the Fastnet Rock colt for $320,000.
He is a half-brother to Gr 3 Launceston Cup and dual listed winner Hofmeister.
Wyadup Farm, of West Australia, went to $270,000 to secure the Encosta filly from Gr 1 performer Divine Secret.
A daughter of Flying Spur was also the subject of spirited bidding and eventually went to the NZ Bloodstock bid for $260,000.
She is a grand-daughter of the stakes winning Storm Bird mare Eurostorm.
Leading trainer Peter Moody liked what he saw of the Dansili colt and backed his judgement with $240,000
The youngster is out of the Irish-bred Bluebird mare Delilah who won the Gr 3 Princess Royal Stakes..
More Fireworks As Premier Sale Closes
Rogerson Bloodstock was back to the prominence seen in years past, ending the day as the leading Premier Sale vendor by almost $1 million with 19 yearlings bought for $4,350,000.

Stunning Opening To Sale
Expectations were blown out of the water at Karaka with Australasia's first million dollar yearling of the year heading a string of highlights for the first day of New Zealand Bloodstock's 2010 Premier Sale.
The top price of the day came at Lot 102, with the colt by Fastnet Rock from Popsy (Sir Tristram) knocked down to the bid of Singapore buyer, Jayven See, for $1,000,000.
Offered by Tom & Shelley Murtagh's Esker Lodge, the half-brother to the 2008 Karaka sale-topper ($1.45m, by Redoute's Choice) is the highest priced yearling ever sold to Singapore from the New Zealand sale ring.
Tom Murtagh says while a trainer hasn't been finalised for the colt the plan is to keep him in New Zealand.
"He has been bought to race here in New Zealand and possibly Australia into the future, but will definitely be entered for the Karaka Million as a two-year-old next year.
"Jayven had his first major success with a horse he bought from Esker Lodge (Revolte) so he was happy to go on my recommendation and try again. He likes Fastnet Rock and loved this colt as a type and we're thrilled that he's had the confidence in Esker to step out in such a big way."
After 242 lots, last year's figures were left in the dust as the turnover increased by almost $7 million compared with the same stage in the sale last year. The average and median followed suit with the current average price $184,181, 24% up on last year, and a very strong median of $140,000 up a whopping 40% from $100,000. The clearance rate is a shade under this stage last year at 76%.
A strong and diverse buying bench competed for the yearlings on offer, with the Australian buyers a dominant force. Leading the list by the end of day one was Rogerson Bloodstock, with Graeme Rogerson accompanied ringside by prominent Melbourne owner, Nick Williams.
With 10 yearlings bought for $2.18m, the group's top price of the day was $500,000 paid for the Encosta de Lago colt from Liberty Walk (Zabeel) at Lot 15, from Haunui Farm.
The only other buyer in double figures so far is leading Caulfield trainer, Peter Moody, with 12 yearlings purchased for $1.77m. Moody's top price of the day was also by top Australian sire Encosta de Lago, with the colt at Lot 36 from the family of Alinghi secured for $260,000 from Curraghmore Stud.
Also amongst the leading buyers of the day are fellow Australian buyers Gai Waterhouse, Duncan Ramage, Patinack Farm, John Hawkes and Mark Kavanagh.
New Zealand Bloodstock Co-Managing Director Petrea Vela says the day's trade has surpassed all pre-sale expectations.
"The strength of the sale today has been overwhelming. For the median to be just over $5,000 shy of last year's final Premier Sale average is one of the clearest indicators of just how strong it was today.
"We were confident from the enquiries we'd had from around the world before the sale that our catalogue had been received well and that the buyers were very positive about the line up of horses on offer. But we hadn't expected to see such a dramatic increase on last year's results. To see the likes of Gai Waterhouse, Peter Moody, Bart Cummings, Graeme Rogerson and so on being so active is a great fillip for the sales and a huge confidence boost for the industry."
With a million dollar horse to his credit it was no surprise that Coolmore Stud's Fastnet Rock headed the sires table for the day, with three others sold for an average of $432,500.
As many anticipated, first season sire Darci Brahma has got off to a flying start with 19 yearlings sold for an average of $153,684 to make him the leading freshman sire of the day.
Cambridge Stud is on track to keep its 27 year reign intact, finishing the day the leading vendor by aggregate with 19 sold for an average of $207,632.
Des and Dean Hawkins' Wentwood Grange is having a fantastic Sale, currently the leading vendor by average with five of six yearlings sold for $1,745,000 at an average of $349,000.
Day Two of the Karaka Premier Sale will continue tomorrow from 11am (NZ time), starting at Lot 243. The live lot-by-lot broadcast on Sky Sports 3 (NZ) and TVN (Australia) will commence half an hour before selling starts, with a round-up of Day One's events. The sale will also be streamed live on the New Zealand bloodstock website.

Flying Start To Karaka
A superbly-related son of Encosta De Lago was the headline act for Curraghmore on the opening day of the NZ Bloodstock National Yearling Sales at Karaka.
The blueblooded youngster was knocked down to Willie Leung for $500,000 to meet all expectations for the stud.
"The pre-sale interest was terrific and he was one of the best bred horses in the sale," Gordon Cunningham said.
The colt is a brother to the dual Gr 1 placegetter Glowlamp and half-brother to Gr 3 Hobart Cup winner Offenbach and to black-type performer Isle Of Gibraltar.
They are out of the Shirley Heights mare Push A Venture who has a perfect record at stud with all six of her foals to race having been winners.
It is also the family of Rock Of Gibraltar, who won five consectuve international Gr 1 events before his successful retirement to stud.
Other top results for Curraghmore included $380,000 for their Redoute's Choice filly out of Gr 2 Queen Of The Turf winner Sorrento.
He went to the bid of Rosemount Stud while Zabeel's daughter out of the Gr 1 performed Sarah Vee was a $340,000 purchase.
A Fastnet Rock colt from former NZ Filly of the Year and triple Gr 2 winner Shikoba is Australia-bound after Mick Price parted with $300,000 to secure him.
Prominent New Zealand buyer David Ellis went to $260,000 for Curraghmore's Encosta De Lago colt from Major Drama early in the session.
He is from the family of former champion Australian filly and four-time Gr 1 winner Alinghi.
The Encosta-Rose Pompadour colt also keenly sought after and the chestnut who counted Gr 1 winners and sires Dr Devious and Shinko King in his pedigree fetched $230,000.
"Our clearance rate was very good so we've had an excellent day and look forward to tomorrow," Cunningham said.
Victory Mascot Scores in Hong Kong
Encosta De Lago four-year-old Victory Mascot put the third win of his Hong Hong career on the board at Happy Valley last night.
The four-year-old was successful over 2200 metres for the in-form combination of trainer Caspar Fownes and jockey Brett Prebble.
Victory Mascot was offered by Curraghmore at the 2007 Premier Sale at Karaka and was purchased by Matamata agent Michael Stedman for $300.000.
A half-brother to the stakes perfomer Bold Moment, he is out Flushed whose six wins included the Gr 2 Sunline Stakes and the Gr 3 Matriarch Stakes.
The Redding mare is from from the family of former top filly and triple Gr 1 winner Show Ego (VRC Oaks, Queensland Oaks, West Australian Derby).
Update For Festival Filly
Good news from Australia yesterday for a Scaredee Cat filly (Lot 1357) in Curraghmore's Festival Sale draft to Karaka.
Her half-sister Dalai won at the Ipswich meeting to credit the O'Reilly mare with the third success of her career.
They are out of Tranquil, a half-sister to dual Gr 1 winner Calm Harbour (Thorndon Mile, Captain Cook Stakes).
The A Train (Gr 2 Adelaide Cup) and Sand Sweeper (Gr 3 Easter Cup, Canterbury Gold Cup) further feature in the family.
Curraghmore will also offer Festival colts by Golan (Lot 1104), Perfectly Ready (Lot 1268), Spartacus (Lot 1516) and One Cool Cat (Lot 1595).
Fillies by Postponed (Lot 1135 and 1413) and Perfectly Ready (Lot 1525) complete the consignment.
Belles Fast books Million berth
Belles Fast confirmed her place in the Karaka Million with a brave performance to finish runner-up at Ellerslie on Saturday.
There was honour in defeat for the filly who worked hard to set a fast pace and was only caught in the shadows of the post.
The Curraghmore graduate is highly-rated by trainer Allan Sharrock and was a dashing winner at her previous appearance.
Sharrock secured Belles Fast for $450,000 out of the stud's Premier Sale draft last year.
By Fastnet Rock, she is a half-sister to Gr 2 winners Belle Femme and Flying Babe.
Curraghmore will offer Belle Femme's colt by Flying Spur at Karaka next month.
He is Lot 290 and will be followed into the ring by a son of Charge Forward and the Flying Spur mare Belle Toujours.
She is a half-sister to Belle Femme and a full-sister to Flying Babe, also a Gr 1 placegetter in the Ellerslie Sires' Produce Stakes.
Karaka Yearlings On-Line
Curraghmore is proud to present another top-quality draft to the 2010 National Yearling Sales at Karaka next month.
Video footage of our Premier Sale consignment can now be viewed in the Sales section of our website.
It is also featured on the New Zealand Bloodstock site at www.nzb.co.nz
Curraghmore's yearlings will be stabled in G Block at Karaka and will be available for on-site inspection from January 27.
No Fear Presses Derby Claims
No Fear dented a few New Zealand Derby reputations and furthered his own Gr 1 prospects when he accounted for a competitive three-year-old line-up at Ellerslie.
The son of Johar finished strongly along the fence to down the highly-regarded Maciano and the previously unbeaten Corporal Jones.
"He showed us a lot last year and we had a good opinion of him, but we had to turn him out after a he pulled a muscle," trainer Bruce Wallace said.
"He's come back well and keeps improving and I think without a doubt he's going to be a weight-for-age horse later this year and next year."
In the meantime, he will have two more runs before a crack at the $2.2 million NZ Derby at Ellerslie on March 6.
"We're confident he'll get at least 2000 metres - he's happy to take a sit in his races and travels well," Wallace said.
"He's relaxing nicely and kicked too well for them on Saturday and that was a good field he beat."
Curraghmore sold No Fear for $44,000 at the 2007 National Weanling Sale draft and will next month offer his half-sister by Darci Brahma at the Select Sale.
They are out of the Pompeii Court mare There's No Doubt, who is also the dam of the recent Woodville Cup winner and Group-placed Dutch Striker.
Newmarket bid for top 3YO
Craig Williams has been booked to ride Patinack Farm's top colt Trusting in the Newmarket Handicap on March 6.
Principal Nathan Tinkler has changed tack with the Curraghmore graduate after earlier deciding against the Gr 1 sprint.
However, the $1 million event is back on Trusting's autumn programme and a late entry fee of $A550 will be paid.
Trusting was purchased by Patinack Farm for $300,000 from Curraghmore's 2008 premier draft at Karaka.
The son of Tale Of The Cat was sold by the stud on behalf of John Camilleri's Fairway Thoroughbreds.
Trusting, out of the Gr 2 winner Legible, won the Gr 2 Warwick Stakes and ran a close second in the Gr 1 Golden Rose in his first preparation.
