Velocitea does breeders proud
07 Feb 2010

Christchurch mother and daughter Raewyn Ramage and Shelley Frost celebrated another royal result when Velocitea won Saturday's Gr 3 Hyderabad Stakes.
Their Braided River Thoroughbreds operation boards several mares at Curraghmore Stud, including the Caulfield winner's dam Cat Shmea.
She foaled a valuable filly last year to champion stallion Zabeel and they have also retained Velocitea's yearling sister.
The South Island breeders raced Velocitea, who won twice and was runner-up in the Listed Champagne Stakes, before her sale to Australian interests.
The Volksraad four-year-old claimed the Gr 3 How Now Stakes last spring for Brian Mayfield-Smith and on his retirement she was transferred to Mick Price's stable.
Velocitea was making her first appearance from her new quarters on Saturday and will now head inter-state in search of a Gr 1 prize.
Price has targetted next month's Robert Sangster Stakes - a race he won last year with Bel Mer - at Morphetville.
He said Velocitea's pet trip was 1200 metres and there was plenty of improvement in her leading up to the March 8 feature.
